Ric Flair was arguably the first "cool heel." He was supposed to be the villain. You were supposed to be jealous of him. And everyone was. But there was something incredibly authentic and real about his "Nature Boy" gimmick. He made his opponents look like a million bucks. There will never be another Ric Flair.
Unfortunately, as the "30 for 30" pointed out, this was at the expense of Richard Fliehr. At this point, most wrestling fans know of the hard times (no pun intended) Flair faced on a personal level. It was interesting to hear him speak so candidly about it though. Including commercials, the show clocked in at an hour and a half. It is definitely worth seeking out, even if you aren't a wrestling fan. If you are, then this is a must-see special.
Figure Four Writer's Block has been slow to update recently due to a few outside circumstances. Expect to start seeing a more regular posting schedule once again. Until next time, stay (too) sweet!
